Azienda Agricola Cocito Dario is located in the Asti area on the border between Agliano Terme and Costigliole d’Asti, areas highly suited to the production of Barbera d’Asti.
The reception
You will be welcomed by members of the Cocito family-Dario, Sergio and Nadia-who will guide you through the farm premises.
You will see the authentic places of work: there are no routes, exhibitions or displays dedicated to tourists.
How the visit takes place
The tour begins in the vineyards, where the vegetative stages of the vine and the work that takes place here are explained. We then move on to the winemaking rooms, where the stainless steel tanks used for fermentation are located.
In the winery’s barrique cellar you will find the barrels that store the wine throughout the months of aging, until it is bottled.
Last, the most engaging part of the visit: the guided tasting. You are the star here because you will have the opportunity to personally choose which labels to taste.
Also, if you visit the winery when the wines are still being aged, you can taste them tapped straight from the barrel!

Cocito Dario: Wineries Open Their Doors for the Truffle Fair

A story that
begins in 1900
in Agliano Terme
The history of the Violanda Vineyard has distant origins, dating back to around the late 1800s, early 1900s
The family has always led the company personally, reaching today's fourth generation: Cocito Dario and children Sergio and Nadia.
The winery is located close to the estate vineyards on the tip of Collina Crena on the southeast-facing slope, which is particularly favorable for growing Barbera.
It is precisely this wine, a pleasant surprise of production that carries with it a history of yesteryear, more than a century long and linked to the history of the family.
The Wines
Genuineness of the product and honesty to customers and consumers
The wine produced comes exclusively from estate grapes, and the Cocito family personally oversees all stages in the vineyard and cellar.
Emblematic is the Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG Violanda, dedicated to the one who inherited the vineyard on Crena Hill in the late 1800s.
At that time, little Violanda lived in Australia but, after several transoceanic trips, she decided to settle in the hills of Agliano Terme.
The other wines produced are Rosato, Bonarda, Grignolino and Dolcetto for the reds.
