Landscapes and Beyond: The Palacinka Circus

The village of Neive transforms into an open-air stage with Il Circo Palacinka, a traveling show by and with Chien Barbu Mal Rasè, part of the Paesaggi e Oltre series – Summer theater and music in the UNESCO Lands.

A traveling show

An experience that combines theater, music, and evocative atmospheres through the streets of the historic center, enriched by a moment dedicated to taste.

Captain Palacinka and the cunning Jock, traveling the world far and wide, have collected extraordinary exotic beasts and learned incredible magical abilities and circus techniques.
Trained rodents, pyrotechnic acrobatics, illusionism, enchanted reptiles, Japanese arts, mentalism… These are just some of the acts in the suitcase of the two adventurers who present a varied variety show that is totally unpredictable, wandering around on strange bikes.

The refreshments

During the show, Cascina Fonda Winery by Marco and Massimo Barbero, owners of the winery and the Wine Bar Doi Crutin in the center of Neive’s old village, will accompany the audience with a special toast, presenting two Italian Method sparkling wines: Spumante Nebbiolo Pinot Nero and a Moscato Spumante.

An opportunity to discover two different interpretations of their sparkling wines in a convivial setting immersed in the magic of the evening.

The stars of the show

Chien Barbu Mal Rasè is a clown duo, active for over ten years, whose research is based on improvisation, the tradition of charlatans, popular theater, and theatrical clowning. Over the years, the company has staged street performances, theater shows, impromptu performances, traveling shows, itinerant characters, and variety shows with other companies or collectives.

Each production starts from the conviction that theater should be popular and widely accessible, without losing its originality and surreal dimension—elements that allow imagination to become a tool that breaks down the patterns we are, despite ourselves, accustomed to. The search for this balance is, to this day, the focus of their work.

The organization

The event is organized by Teatro degli Acerbi as part of the Paesaggi e Oltre series, promoted by the Community of the Hills between Langa and Monferrato. The initiative is carried out with the patronage of the Wine Landscape of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, the Regional Council of Piedmont, and with the support of Regione Piemonte, Fondazione CRC, and Fondazione CRT.
