A July evening on the path of lilies and fireflies

From sunset to stars on the scenic Langa ridges to admire the blooming St. John’s lilies and fireflies on the path of the Nuns

An evocative evening-night hike on the trails of Montemarino’s scenic ridge overlooking the Belbo Valley, the Vallone delle Grazie and the Berria Valley.

We will walk in the light of sunset on a scenic ridge that will lead us to admire the spectacular and colorful bloom of St. John’s lilies at the site of Pian del Mondo.

We will reach one of the most picturesque places in the area, a secluded and quiet place, crossed in the past by the ancient Roman road that connected Alba Pompeia to the Belbo Valley and affected from the Lombard period by the presence of an important monastery: the Monastery of the Graces.

In this magical place where there is no light pollution, it is possible (if we are lucky) to admire the flickering light of a multitude of fireflies.

We will retrace the traces of ancient Roman and medieval paths, stop at one of the most striking viewpoints in the area and return by walking through the Nuns’ forest accompanied by the song of nocturnal birds of prey and the curious glances of deer.

Before departure you can enjoy a great aperitif accompanied by local products at Bar Otto in Manera di Benevello.

Meet at 8:15 p.m. at Montemarino di Borgomale c/o Santissima Annunziata Church Provincial Road 230 (from the hamlet of Manera di Benevello follow for Via Montemarino).

Departure 8:30 pm.

Return about 11:30 pm.

Flashlight or headlamp (or even cellular flashlight if you do not have a headlamp), appropriate clothing and footwear are recommended.
