In addition to being a Supermoon and a Blue Moon, the August Full Moon is traditionally called the “Sturgeon Moon.”
This name comes from the Native American tribes that lived around the Great Lakes, for whom August was the ideal time to fish for sturgeon.
Terre Alte, in order to enjoy this spectacle, offers you a not-to-be-missed evening-night walk in the hills of Monforte d’Alba, one of the most evocative historic centers of the Barolo Langa.
Few words can describe the beauty of the Langa monfort landscape: from the high bricks surrounding the village, the view opens up in all directions, the gaze wanders to embrace the hills embroidered by the many rows of precious vines, groves speckle the rounded peaks; villages and castles color the slopes, and beyond the piedmont plain the Alps close the magical circle. The route is developed on the hillside characterized by the presence of the oldest geological formations in the area: we are in the elite of the production of the great Barolos; nevertheless, the landscape is varied, characterized by summit forests that are home to downy oak and Scots pine, sandstone walls and steep vineyards.
The route will end with a visit to the historic center of Monforte: the Saracca. It is precisely in the evening that the town offers a truly unmissable spectacle.
Terre Alte recommends: before the evening walk, we recommend anapericena at the bars in the historic center. Don’t drink too much that then you walk!
