The light of sunset on the lavender fields

Terre Alte offers you a hiking experience in the hills of the Sale San Giovanni area to admire the blooms of lavender and other fragrant herbs…. in the light of sunset, during the hours when the fields are depopulated of the many visitors and the stillness and silence add value to a unique and striking landscape!

The first part of the trail passes through the shady and cool territory of the Prandi Arboretum where majestic and rare examples of tree species can be seen.

We will walk along a small path among fragrant broom and other wild essences to reach fragrant fields where the following medicinal plants are cultivated : officinal lavender, hybrid lavender, officinal sage, thyme vulgaris, helichrysum italicum, hyssop, rosemary, lemon balm, Roman chamomile, wild fennel and extensive fields of Enkir, the first cereal domesticated by man.

As we travel through the scenic hills that stretch between the Maritime Alps and the Ligurian Apennines, we will have the opportunity to observe extraordinary landscapes and breathe in a truly unique atmosphere.

At the entrance to the village of Sale San Giovanni are two true artistic jewels such as the ancient Parish Church of St. John the Baptist and the Chapel of St. Sebastian, both enriched with valuable frescoes.

Program

Meet at 5 p.m. at Sale San Giovanni, 12070 (Cn) c/o Pieve di San Giovanni Battista parking lot.

Departure 5:15 pm.

Return to the village at about 9 pm.

Bring any snacks (packed snacks if your stomach is clamoring) to eat among the herb fields, in a scenic spot.
