If you are looking for a place to spend a September Saturday evening in a convivial and relaxing atmosphere, the Francesco Rosso farm in Santo Stefano Roero offers you an evening dedicated to two stars of freshwater cuisine: eel and tench.

A trio of appetizers opens the evening with three different proposals, followed by eel and tinche in carpione, where the bold flavor of the fish meets the distinctive aromatic notes of one of the preparations most closely tied to Piedmontese tradition.

Next, fried tench, crispy and golden, to savor all the flavor of tench in its most delicious version.

To close the evening, a dessert for a pleasant finish at the table.

Dinner takes place in the dedicated tasting room, a cool place with a relaxing atmosphere with a menu designed to enhance Piedmontese cuisine with a touch of creativity. The journey combines the dishes with the production of estate wines, narrated firsthand by the owners.

The company

The Francesco Rosso winery was born with its current connotation in 2001, but behind it has a history of family members closely linked to this territory and viticulture.

The family-run winery of Francesco and Maria Rosso produces wines that tell the authentic character of this area, combining hospitality with the flavors of Piedmontese tradition.

The winery can be reached by following the scenic roads leading to Santo Stefano Roero, an area characterized by small villages and the spectacular Rocche del Roero

Roero DOCG

One of the estate’s most representative grape varieties is Nebbiolo, which is present in the Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC, Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Superiore Bastianetto, Roero DOCG ‘Nciarmà and Roero DOCG Riserva versions.

Roero DOCG, aged at least 18 months in barriques and tonneaux, is complex and intense with hints of violets, red fruit compote and spices.

Because of its important structure, it is excellent with game, roasts, stews and braises.

The Cà d’Dreja vineyard, literally Casa d’Andrea, produces Roero Arneis, Barbera and Nebbiolo.

Roero Arneis is also produced from the six-year-old Bastianetto vineyard and the Suere vineyard located in Montà d’Alba. Sauvignon and Nebbiolo are also made from the latter.

The farm is dedicated to the cultivation and sale of fruits and vegetables: strawberries, peppers and the Langhe round gentile hazelnut.
