Born in Tehran on March 21, 1982, the first day of spring, Nasim grew up under Iranian government oppression in the same way a flower blooms in the desert.
On the other hand, her name means “breeze,” and of the breeze she shares the untamed and free spirit.
I was rock, now I am mountain is the story of her life, from a rebellious child with a passion for martial arts and a desire to become a boy, to a young woman in love with nature and constantly searching for her own identity. Nasim recalls his childhood years, his first climbs, the bans and retaliation he suffered from the morality police, but most of all he traces the many new routes he opened in the mountains of Iran, Armenia, Georgia, India and Europe.
After the 2022 uprisings and the regime’s stranglehold, she decided to expose herself by giving voice through her social networks to all women who are victims of abuse.
To do so, he had to sacrifice everything he had built on his land, but the strength to believe in herself and her own possibilities has never left her: denouncing the horrors and violence of the Islamic republic, Nasim has made her story a model of freedom in Iran and around the world.
New Worlds Festival: a story of rebirth in the mountains
Born in 2012 from an idea of the cultural association Kosmoki and the Municipality of Valloriate, the New Worlds Festival is a unique event.
It is in fact a mountain film festival that takes place entirely in the mountains, in the MontagnaFutura Cultural District, consisting of the municipalities of Rittana, Valloriate, Roccasparvera and Moiola.
The challenge is ambitious: to create a major cultural event in a peripheral setting, capable of attracting visitors from all over Italy and breathing new life into an often forgotten mountainous area.
The festival features a selection of documentaries participating in the International Documentary Competition .
In addition to cinema, the festival also offers a rich program of events with important cultural and mountain personalities.
All with the aim of creating a dialogue between different forms of art and culture and exploring new worldviews.
