DOCG Gavi di Gavi 2010 - Gemma

October 8, 2011

Gavi is a white wine produced in the province of Alessandria (Piedmont) and made with 100 % Cortese grapes.

In 1974 Gavi was awarded DOC status, in 1998 it was made DOCG and became famous in the whole world.

The vineyards are cultivated at altitudes of 300 metres on calcareous and clayey soils.

Its grapes are harvested in the first half of September and the fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature.

The Cantina Gemma’s Gavi di Gavi 2010 (Serralunga d’Alba) shows a pale straw-yellow colour with green reflexes. The nose is delicate with fruity notes of pear, grapefruit and white and yellow flowers. It is a medium-bodied wine, dry and full on the palate with clear mineral notes, that highlight its grape variety. The finish is intense, fine and elegant, with a slight acidity that conveys freshness.

Ideal for aperitifs and appetizers, but also with pasta with tomato sauces, fish dishes and soft cheeses.

Serving temperature: 8-10 °C
