Paths of...Wines. The path of poets on the Langa del Barolo

At the gates of the Barolo Langa, just a few kilometers from Alba, Terre Alte offers you a scenic route, rich in history, curiosities and of course…poetry.

Roddi, Verduno, the beautiful landscape, wines and history in the Langa World Heritage hills.

Anunforgettable excursion to discover the area through the telling of facts, legends and characters that have made the history of these hills, crossing the vineyard landscape in its poetic springtime guise.

The route starts from the historic center of the town of Roddi, home of the curious “University of Truffle Dogs.”

The medieval origins of the village can be clearly read in the structure of the ancient quarters and the radiocentric arrangement of the dwellings.

Leaving behind us the top of the hill dominated by the castle we reach a scenic hill ridge that allows us to travel along the “Bar to Bar” trail; to our right we admire the profile of the Roero hills dominated by Towers and castles that belonged to important and noble families and to our left the backdrop of the hills of the fine Barolo production territory.

We will reach the historic center of Verduno to visit the scenic esplanade and walk along the path of Madonna del Loreto, a silent little church set among vineyards where we will stop for a relaxing lunch break.

We will return to Roddi along the “Nature Trail” and the green valley of the “Rio Zinzasco.”

The Nature Trail, in the municipality of Verduno, runs through a cool grove where specimens of poplars and oaks of considerable size can be admired.During the autumn period it is often frequented by “truffle hunters” accompanied by their faithful “Tabui.”

Upon returning to Roddi, we recommend the following.

• theaperitif at the Bistrot “L’ora Giusta” on the Terrazza della Poesia, a magnificent belvedere from which you can admire the Langa hills while tasting excellent wine accompanied by delicious appetizers.
• the guided tour of the castle: of very ancient origins, the castle was owned by Gaius Francesco della Mirandola grandson of the well-known humanist and philosopher Pico della Mirandola.
• Visit Alba to attend the Vinum event
