At the heart of Distilleria Beccaris‘ philosophy is a principle as ancient as it is essential: quality is born from what nature offers most authentically.
Pomace from moscato, nebbiolo, barbera, dolcetto and other grape varieties become a raw material of great value that, enhanced by expert hands, transforms into excellent distillates.
In this journey, artisanal tradition and spirit of experimentation meet and merge.
Distilling is an art passed down from father to son, a knowledge preserved with pride that guides every phase of the work. It is precisely from this continuity, combined with the will to innovate, that a range of products with a strongly distinctive character is born, the result of a process entirely followed within the distillery.
Why visit Distilleria Beccaris
At Distilleria Beccaris every detail tells the legacy of four generations, interweaving memory and material testimonies in a single engaging journey.
Here an often little-known production process is revealed, capable of evoking an authentic sense of magic: from the historic still, guardian of decades of artisanal tradition, to the most modern machinery, every element reflects the evolution of technique without losing the charm of the origins.
The protagonist of this story is the master distiller, a fascinating figure who, thanks to a deep knowledge of the craft, combines sensitivity, experience and tools to create quality distillates.
An intricate network of pipes and stills reveals the magic behind the production process, where technique, expertise, and tradition come together to create unique spirits.
A curated selection of golden-hued bottles reflects the excellence of the distillery — a blend of elegance, quality, and tradition to discover and take home.
Four generations united by the same passion: preserving, innovating, and sharing the art of distillation.
A story that
begins in 1951
in Costigliole d'Asti
A destiny in the hat that created the distillery
Distilleria Beccaris was born from an act of faith in the future. It was 1951 when the founder, Cavaliere Ufficiale Elio Beccaris, decided to start his own business. Before him, three possible paths: a distillery, a winery, or a vinegar factory.
To resolve the doubt, Elio chose an exceptional judge: his son Carlo, who at the time was only a few months old. Three slips of paper in a hat and the little one's hand to guide destiny. The verdict? "Distillery": a choice as random as it was fortunate that, for over seventy years, has been offering distillate lovers the labels of the company in Boglietto di Costigliole d'Asti.
That decision made for fun has transformed into a solid family tradition, where the passion for quality is passed down from generation to generation, keeping the authentic spirit of the origins intact.
The art of grappa continues to live with the same dedication in Carlo's sons, still a reference point in the company, Marco and Paolo. Together, they bring a contemporary touch: from production techniques to the innovative design of bottles and labels. The future of the distillery is in passionate hands.
Products
Where pomace becomes aroma, memory and character
Everything begins with the pomace, carefully selected from the great grape varieties of the territory: nebbiolo, moscato, barbera and dolcetto. The quality of the raw material is crucial: it must be fresh, delivered immediately after vinification, well preserved, not too dry nor excessively pressed.
The most precious part is in the skins, where the substances capable of giving depth, intensity and elegance to the distillate are concentrated. From here are born grappas with authentic character: some more immediate, others left to rest slowly in wood, until they become meditation grappas.
Grappas, brandies and liqueurs: tradition renewed
Alongside grappas, the distillery works on fruit brandies, distilling juicy pears, ripe cherries, apricots and plums to capture the purest essence of the fruit, capable of evoking summer and the land from which it comes.
The same attention guides the production of liqueurs, bitters and aromatic elixirs, where herbs, spices and distillates meet in recipes that combine artisanal knowledge and contemporary sensibility. From this research also take shape gins and bitters.
There is also a more convivial side, designed for aperitif time and the pleasure of sharing: elegant vermouths, fruit in spirits and chocolates filled with grappa tell a delicious and immediate way to approach the world of distillation.
Experimentation remains central: the company uses different woods for aging, creates new blends and works on vintages following intuition and experience, without losing the connection with a production made of precise gestures and conscious choices.
All products are handcrafted and deliberately chosen to remain outside mass distribution. A choice of identity, even before market.
We have chosen to remain a niche reality, with a precise choice: to maintain quality, authenticity and independence.
Grappa di Moscato, the company’s signature distillate
Among the most representative expressions of the distillery is the Grappa Moscato Botticella line: delicate, refined, designed for palates capable of capturing the most subtle nuances.
It comes from a traditional continuous steam system, active since 1951 in the historic Distilleria Beccaris, and ages in precious Slavonian oak tonneau, barriques and solera with capacity between 3,500 and 4,000 liters.
The barrels, built in the Beccaris cellars in the 1950s and still used today, contribute to giving the distillate a high quality and distinctive taste.
Where the best pomace is born, our distillates come to life
Intense aromas and enveloping notes: these grappas express all the elegance and richness of Moscato, transformed into a delicate and distinctive spirit.
The boutique reveals a harmonious dialogue between past and present: a vintage Balilla car and the distillates together tell the authentic soul of the distillery.
A collection of spirits that embodies research, passion, and identity — a true expression of Beccaris’ artisanal excellence.

A space with a unique atmosphere that also hosts private events
The new Foresteria Beccaris is located next to the historic Distilleria Beccaris and is a space that surprises at first glance: an architectural masterpiece of five floors, with modern and spectacular design, where Langa stone, wood and plays of light create an elegant and evocative atmosphere.
Its shapes recall those of a large barrel, an immediate reference to the world of distillation and the family’s history. A place designed not only to welcome, but also to tell a precise identity, made of tradition, attention to detail and contemporary vision.
The guest house is also suitable for exclusive events: photo shoots, aperitifs, dinners, meetings and team building activities can be organized to measure, choosing between external catering or chefs proposed by the structure.

The spaces of the Beccaris Guesthouse are spread over five levels. This is where the rooms dedicated to aging grappa are located, whose circular shape recalls that of a barrel.
A blend of modernity and design, featuring clean lines in wood and glass, connected to the distillery by the striking “Grappadotto.”
The stills
Two different ways of working pomace coexist in the distillery
In the large distillery works a continuous steam still, used exclusively for grappa production. During the distillation season, from the third week of October until early March, the plant remains active 24 hours a day and can process up to 40 tons of pomace per day.
The grappa comes out of the still with a high alcohol content, up to 81% vol., and is then brought to 42% vol. with distilled water. The result is a grappa with a drier, finer and more elegant profile.
Next to the main system is the small still, discontinuous bain-marie. More recent, dating back about thirty years, it is dedicated to artisanal processing and targeted productions.
Here are born the micro distillations: about 1,000 kg of pomace per day, from which about 50 liters of pure grappa are obtained. A more contained scale, also ideal for contract work and for the creation of customized grappas.
The same still also allows the production of other distillates, including brandy, fruit brandies, gin and beer distillates.
When it comes out of the still, the grappa is colorless. It then rests in steel for 6-8 months, the time needed to stabilize, before deciding whether or not to start aging.
For aging (this is where the grappa takes on color), mainly oak is used, along with other woods such as cherry, chestnut and acacia. The barrels can be small, like the 250-liter barriques, or very large, with capacity up to 3,500 liters.
The slow time that shapes each grappa
A copper still used for the distillation of grape pomace, guardian of decades of artisanal tradition.
The pomace is distilled to create grappas with an intense character and unique elegance.
The products of Distilleria Beccaris are meant to be enjoyed slowly and given as gifts, sharing the authentic taste of tradition.
