Paths of light and harvest: autumn among the chestnut groves and vineyards of Roero

This circular itinerary starting from Canale leads us to discover the Roero wine landscape at its most evocative moment.

In mid-September, with the Arneis harvest just finished or in its final stages, the rows show off their first warm and golden hues and the air smells of fresh must.

Route description

Start from Canale and climb through the vineyards: our journey begins in the historic center of Canale, gradually climbing towards the hills of the Roero Docg.

The sun-drenched slopes reveal the geometric beauty of the rows of recently harvested Arneis, offering wide panoramas towards the Rocche and nearby villages.

Among ancient chestnut trees and the protected area: continuing along the ridges, on the upper edge of the Rocche, the path enters shady woods characterized by majestic, centuries-old chestnut trees.

Here nature prepares for the chestnut harvest, giving you a deep sense of quiet.

Before closing the loop through a natural oasis we can return to town for a tasting at the Enoteca Regionale del Roero or a stop at a pastry shop to taste the delicious “Duchesse” typical of Canale—a pastry made of two soft wafers filled with a chocolate and liqueur-based cream.
