In Cherasco Meets “Legends about Cherasco and its surroundings”

A famous legend about the origin of Cherasco will be the topic of the “Cherasco Incontra” event on Wednesday, July 10, treated by Laura Beccaria, Roreto librarian.

It will begin by discussing the legend about the formation of Cherasco: in fact, it is said that the devil took some earth from the hills of Pocapaglia to build Cherasco.

From the City of Paci the discourse will expand to neighboring cities and towns, focusing on the masche, peculiar figures in Piedmontese folklore and folk belief, seemingly normal women endowed with supernatural faculties handed down from mother to daughter or grandmother to granddaughter.

Mention will be made, for example, of Pocapaglia with the masca Micilina, the Zizzola of Bra, a place of nocturnal gatherings of the masche.

A curious appointment not to be missed.

The meeting place will be the Fathers’ Garden, in case of bad weather we will go to the civic auditorium.
