Douja d'Or: Arneis masterclass and the Consortium for the Protection of Piedmontese Grappa

Wine at the center, discovering the excellence of the Asti area.

The Douja d’Or is one of the three flagship events of Asti’s September, alongside the Palio and the Festival of Festivals.

Asti, capital of wine, also renowned for its exquisite gastronomy, reveals itself over ten days through tastings, performances, and cultural itineraries against the backdrop of one of the most prestigious national wine competitions.

The heart of the event will be Piazza San Secondo, transformed into the “Wine Salon”: a place of encounter between local excellence and international guests.

Tastings, showcooking, masterclasses, and events throughout the city will make the Douja an immersive experience accessible to all.

Arneis meets the sea

A tasting masterclass dedicated to the encounter between Arneis and the flavors of the sea, in an original pairing that unites Piedmont with Liguria.

The protagonists of the event will be four Arneis wines, presented in a guided tasting alongside Ligurian Sea oysters from the Mitilicoltori Spezzini, guests of the event.

The tasting will be led by an ONAV speaker, who will guide the audience through the characteristics of the wines, the pairings, and the various sensory nuances that emerge from the meeting of glass and sea.

Max 20 participants.

The event takes place in Piazza Roma and is organized in two sessions: 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

Piedmont, a region that distills

Masterclass curated by the Consortium for the Protection of Piedmontese Grappa and Grappa di Barolo

Guided tasting of 4 grappas accompanied by small gastronomic samples featuring the presence and tales of master distillers.

The event takes place at the Ridotto of the Teatro Alfieri.

La Douja

Pronounced dùia, in Piedmontese dialect it is the ancient earthenware vessel used for decanting, storing and serving wine.

The Piedmontese mask Gianduja, Gian d’la Douja, uses it instead of a glass for his merry drinking.

In Asti , the Douja d’Or is synonymous with the wine festival, now a must-see event in Piedmont.
