Lequio Berria celebrates summer with music, dance, and folk tradition featuring Ij danseur dël pilon.

The show

The protagonists will be Ij Danseur dël Pilon together with the musicians Sonador dël Pilon, who will liven up the town center with an intense afternoon of performance, music, and audience engagement.

The group will present a series of Piedmontese folk dances, live traditional music, songs, and moments of folkloric entertainment, transforming the streets and the square into a space of shared celebration, in the spirit of folk culture and Langhe conviviality.

It will not just be a show to watch, but a truly participatory experience: the audience will be directly involved in the dances and the traditional atmosphere, evoking the spirit of ancient village festivals and community vigils that for generations represented the heart of Piedmontese social life.

Ij danseur dël pilon

The folk group of Piemonte Cultura APS, Ij Danseur dël Pilon, is composed of a dozen couples and offers a repertoire of performance and entertainment dances closely linked to the folk tradition of the Piedmont region.

The group’s activity also develops through research and studies dedicated to the regional dance, musical, and ethnographic heritage, with particular attention to oral memory and the instruments of Alpine and peasant folk tradition.

Ij Danseur dël Pilon, usually accompanied by traditional instruments, have four pairs of Piedmontese Tascon.

The Flail is a “poor” percussion instrument originally born as an agricultural tool used to separate wheat grains from the straw during manual threshing, today used by the Group to rhythmically accompany the melodic sound of the Diatonic Accordion and other melodic instruments.
