Gino Rapa, a retired Ligurian teacher, has never stopped teaching and trying to bring children as well as adults closer to discovering the Italian language.
He is in fact the author of three collections of “linguistic curiosities.”
- Turnip head (2021) with a preface by Fiorella Mannoia.
- Turnip greens (2022) with a preface by Roberto Vecchioni.
- Turnip Heart (2023) with a foreword by Antonio Albanese.
This special trilogy (Delfino Moro editions) aims to stimulate the reader’s curiosity by surprising him or her with unusual etymologies, presenting the unknown origin of many idioms and reminding that the foundations of modern Italian rest firmly on Latin and Greek, languages often hastily declared “dead.”
These are books that can satisfy doubts and foster reflections on the commonly used Italian language, which we do not always know enough about.
Suitable for children and young people to make them understand the importance of words, but also for adults who will find pleasure in each page in discovering or calling to mind the beauty and variety of our language.
The three bookscontribute to the purchase of medical supplies for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Gaslini Children’s Hospital in Genoa.
