FAI Summer Evenings: hunting for shooting stars

From late June to early September 2024, FAI Summer Evenings are back. In FAI properties from the North to the South of the Peninsula, opening hours will be extraordinarily extended to offer a unique experience: continue visiting until sunset to enjoy the special atmosphere of summer evenings with a wide range of special initiatives.

More than 300 events are on the calendar, including aperitifs and picnics at sunset, concerts and shows under the stars, short astronomy lectures, cultural meetings at sunset, treks and guided walks at dusk to discover the richly beautiful territories surrounding the Italian Environmental Fund properties.

Nature walks as the sun sets, sunset aperitifs, music and performances under the stars, small astronomy lessons.

Hunting for shooting stars

On the nights of shooting stars, two evenings to experience a special occasion of relaxation in the magical setting of Manta Castle: picnic in the garden atdusk and evening tour of the Castle halls.

On the occasion of the Night of St. Lawrence, Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11, visitors will be able to go Hunting for shooting stars.

At the end of the visit, eyes turned to the sky… hunting for shooting stars, participants will be led in theobservation by astrophile Bartolomeo Davide Bertinetto to discover the celestial vault and the legendary tears of San Lorenzo.

The meteoric swarm that the Earth goes through during the summer period as it travels its orbit around the sun.

An opportunity to relax and, at the same time, discover and explore some curious aspects of astronomy in a beautiful historical and naturalistic setting.

The times are:

• 7:30 p.m. picnic in the garden or aperitif (reservations required)
• 9:30 p.m. walk along the walls followed by a special tour of the castle (duration: about 90 minutes)
• 11:30 p.m. closing of the event

The cost of the picnic basket is not included in the ticket cost.
