{"id":92792,"date":"2021-08-03T11:00:17","date_gmt":"2021-08-03T09:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/langhe.net\/92792\/vegan-ferragosto-august-15-public-holiday-what-to-put-on-the-grill-for-your-vegan-friends\/"},"modified":"2021-08-03T12:27:08","modified_gmt":"2021-08-03T10:27:08","slug":"vegan-ferragosto-grill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/langhe.net\/en\/92792\/vegan-ferragosto-grill\/","title":{"rendered":"Vegan Ferragosto (August 15 public holiday): What to put on the grill for your vegan friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Summer<\/strong> is the ideal season for <strong>barbecues,<\/strong> which for us Italians don&#8217;t just represent a different way of eating, but also an opportunity to meet with friends or relatives and have a party.<\/p>\n<p>Those who still choose to use <strong>firewood<\/strong> gather around the barbeque as if there was a <strong>mystical rite<\/strong> to follow, to light the fire and prepare the grill in time for lunch.<\/p>\n<p>For the people of <strong>Piedmont<\/strong>, lovers of <strong>Fassona meat<\/strong>, <strong>Ferragosto<\/strong> and the hot summer weekends are classics for grilling meat.<\/p>\n<p>However, recently, there has been a lot of talk about <strong>cooking and vegan products.<\/strong> So we asked ourselves, is it possible to give up animal proteins and prepare a <strong>completely vegetarian barbecue<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>Of course we can, with a bit of imagination and some online research, so here are our tips for a <strong>Cruelty Free Ferragosto!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Let&#8217;s start with some&#8230; <strong>Starters!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div class=\"caption__container content__image aligncenter size-full\"><div class=\"ratio\"><div class=\"ratio__content\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-92796 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/bruschetta.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1481\" height=\"833\" srcset=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/bruschetta.jpg 1481w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/bruschetta-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/bruschetta-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/bruschetta-1030x579.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/bruschetta-450x253.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1481px) 100vw, 1481px\" \/><\/div><\/div><p class=\"caption__text\"><br \/>Bruschetta (grilled bread) with tomatoes<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While some <strong>prepare the charcoal fire<\/strong> and drink a frozen beer to fight off the heat of the barbecue, others prepare the <strong>bruschette<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Excellent as a <strong>starter<\/strong>, easy and quick to prepare, a tomato bruschetta is a recipe that anyone can make. Let&#8217;s leave the &#8220;traditional&#8221; version behind however and talk about a true <strong>local specialty<\/strong>: the <strong>bruschetta Morando<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>The Bruschetta Morando<\/h3>\n<p>Cut bread into rather thick slices, about two fingers high, and prepare an <strong>emulsion made of oil, vinegar and salt<\/strong>. Dip the slices into the liquid and wait until the bread fully absorbs it.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, <strong>barbecue<\/strong> the slices until the bread has reached an optimal level of <strong>crunchiness.<\/strong> Now season the Morando bruschetta with the classic tomato or eat it along with other dishes as a side dish.<\/p>\n<h3>Grilled corn on the cob<\/h3>\n<div class=\"caption__container content__image aligncenter size-full\"><div class=\"ratio\"><div class=\"ratio__content\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-92798 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pannocchia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1250\" height=\"703\" srcset=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pannocchia.jpg 1250w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pannocchia-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pannocchia-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pannocchia-1030x579.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pannocchia-450x253.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1250px) 100vw, 1250px\" \/><\/div><\/div><p class=\"caption__text\"><br \/>Grilled corn on the cob<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Corn,<\/strong> which we call <strong>meliga<\/strong> (melia in Piedmontese), is a typical summer product. Cooking corn on Barbecues, however, is a <strong>typical American tradition<\/strong> that we&#8217;re proposing as part for your vegan grilled food.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with the raw material: you need to choose <strong>small and tender corn cobs<\/strong>, then remove the leaves, tassels and stem. Cut them in half and <strong>insert a rather long stick<\/strong> so that you can grill them comfortably. The cooking time is roughly 30-40 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>You can <strong>season<\/strong> with oil, salt and soy mayonnaise, or with some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/63139\/grilling-try-it-with-sauce\/?lang=en\">BBQ sauces<\/a> that you&#8217;ll find in this article.<\/p>\n<h3>Paring with the Sidr\u00e8<\/h3>\n<div class=\"caption__container content__image aligncenter size-entry_with_sidebar\"><div class=\"ratio\"><div class=\"ratio__content\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-82813 size-entry_with_sidebar\" src=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/mader\u00e8-870x480.jpg\" alt=\"Langhero - Mader\u00e8\" width=\"870\" height=\"480\" \/><\/div><\/div><p class=\"caption__text\"><br \/>Langhero &#8211; Mader\u00e8<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Great as an <strong>aperitif<\/strong>, and paired with appetizers, <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.langhe.net\/en\/product\/sidre-pear-cider-orto-smeraldo\/\">Sidr\u00e8<\/a> is the first and only Madernassa pear cider, a typical Roero pear variety, that is vegan certified.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sparkling<\/strong>, <strong>dry<\/strong> and <strong>low in alcoholic content<\/strong>, the Sidr\u00e8 by Borgogno Rivata is much more like a brut spumante as opposed to classic English ciders.<\/p>\n<h2>Now it&#8217;s time for the <strong>main dish!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div class=\"caption__container content__image aligncenter size-full\"><div class=\"ratio\"><div class=\"ratio__content\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-92800 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/vegan-burger.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1100\" height=\"619\" srcset=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/vegan-burger.jpg 1100w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/vegan-burger-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/vegan-burger-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/vegan-burger-1030x580.jpg 1030w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/vegan-burger-450x253.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px\" \/><\/div><\/div><p class=\"caption__text\"><br \/>Vegan burger<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Skewers<\/strong> and <strong>burgers<\/strong> can also be made with <strong>vegetable ingredients<\/strong>. In this case <strong>tofu<\/strong> and <strong>seitan<\/strong> take center stage. If you&#8217;d like to give more flavor to your dishes and surprise your guests, you can opt for <strong>a wine-based marinade<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The procedure is actually quite simple: in a large container pour 100 ml of extra virgin olive oil, 250 ml of <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.langhe.net\/en\/product-category\/white-wines\/\">white<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.langhe.net\/en\/product-category\/red-wines\/\">red<\/a> wine, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and mix.<\/p>\n<p>Then add 2-3 cloves of garlic, sliced celery and carrots, black pepper, rosemary, laurel and other <strong>aromatic herbs as desired<\/strong>. Finish by adding a bit of salt. Immerse the tofu or seitan in the mix and let it <strong>rest overnight in the fridge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The next day you can devote yourself to preparing your vegan skewers or burgers, according to your favorite recipes.<\/p>\n<p>There are quite a few on the web.
