Today we can affirm that <strong>the harvest took place in almost normal periods<\/strong>, certainly not weeks earlier compared to previous years. Yet still in mid-July, oenologists, agronomists and entrepreneurs were very concerned.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I add that the amarcord is quite different: I recall that on <strong>November 19, 1979<\/strong> the last load of Nebbiolo grapes for <a href=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/en\/wines\/barbaresco-docg\/\">Barbaresco<\/a> had arrived at Fontanafredda, while for the Pinot Nero, Grigio and Bianco grapes of Oltrep\u00f2 Pavese, harvesting had begun the first week of September.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year among the rows of Lirio, Montecalvo and Pietra de Giorgi, that is the most suitable communes of the province of Pavia, there were already ranks of <strong>grape pickers at the end of July<\/strong>, while in <strong>Calosso<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/en\/town\/santo-stefano-belbo-piedmont\/\">Santo Stefano Belbo<\/a> and <strong>Strevi<\/strong>, the prized <strong>aromatic Moscato Bianco grapes<\/strong> and <strong>Brachetto<\/strong> had been harvested, for the most part, already in <strong>August<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Great movement therefore on the small roads of the numerous fractions of the <strong>52 communes of the Asti DOCG zone<\/strong>, while on the winery courtyards, lines of trucks were waiting to unload, from the bins into the augers, the golden bunches of the prized grapes mentioned above.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">White and red grapes, the harvest balance<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This 2026 harvest was characterized by <strong>white grapes of excellent quality<\/strong>, <strong>healthy<\/strong>, <strong>with a good sugar content<\/strong> and <strong>acidity at average levels<\/strong>. The yields in the vineyard, despite unfavorable climatic conditions, were also good. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the <strong>red grapes<\/strong> the same discourse, the Barbera grapes were <strong>rich in polyphenols<\/strong>, responsible for the violet-red color in the finished wine, while the <a href=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/en\/vines\/nebbiolo-en\/\">Nebbiolo grapes<\/a> arrived perfectly healthy, with an <strong>excellent level of phenolic potential<\/strong>, rich in proanthocyanidins and anthocyanins, signifying a good potential for <strong>future evolution<\/strong> in barrel and in bottle.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"quote quote--is-big accent\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Certainly the harvest period for grapes has for years now been increasingly early, but it must be immediately specified that equipment and machinery work miracles.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the <a href=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/en\/visit\/wineries\/\">winery<\/a> the oenological practices took place regularly, without particular problems, thanks to the health of the grapes and the <strong>balanced composition of the bunch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Certainly <strong>the harvest period for grapes has for years now been increasingly early<\/strong>, but it must be immediately specified that equipment and machinery work miracles.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technology in the winery at the service of quality<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, in almost all wineries, small or large as they may be, <strong>technology has entered<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact <strong>cold<\/strong> and <strong>stainless steel<\/strong> are well present, among mini and maxi refrigeration systems, crushers, very soft in the treatment of bunches and multifunctional presses, in timing and movements and innovative filters of the latest generation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All to guarantee a <strong>perfect pressing process<\/strong> and subsequent <strong>vinification<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In short, a <strong>vintage rich in aromas<\/strong> and <strong>perfumes of high intensity<\/strong> is announced, with <strong>full and very balanced flavors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the hope that time will give us further confirmation of the <strong>quality of the 2026 vintage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2026 harvest closes with positive results despite climatic uncertainties.
