Aside from the outrageous spending sprees<\/strong> such as buying villas and satisfying their most absurd whims<\/strong>, the trend in recent years is to invest<\/strong> in alcohol-related businesses.<\/a><\/p>\n

For example\u00a0Mot\u00f6rhead<\/strong> produce malt whiskey<\/strong>, which they sell for 666 Swedish kronor.<\/p>\n

Iron Maiden<\/strong>, on the other hand, produce Trooper Beer<\/strong>, a golden ale with a deep color and a bitter, citrus mix of three hops.<\/p>\n

And what about wine<\/strong>?\u00a0After the Pearl Jam concert<\/a> in Chicago in 2013, the entire world knows that Eddie Vedder loves the Roero wine by Matteo Correggia<\/strong>, but apparently, he’s not the only one…<\/p>\n

Sting’s Palagio Tasting Tour<\/h2>\n

In 2002 Sting<\/strong> bought the Palagio estate in Tuscany<\/strong>, a company with 200 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, pastures and forests.<\/p>\n

This year, he decided to try out an innovative tour<\/a> to get people to know about his Italian company products.<\/p>\n

Sting’s wine<\/strong>, honey<\/strong> and olive oil<\/strong> will be traveling on board a camper alongside his wife, the estate manager and the rest of the band.<\/p>\n

Before his shows he’ll be offering tastings of his products<\/strong> to fans and enthusiasts alike.<\/p>\n

If you think that his wine sells simply because of the producer’s name on the label, you’ll be surprised to know that Sister Moon 2014<\/strong> was included in the list of the 100 best wines in Italy<\/strong> by the famous Wine Spectato<\/strong>r magazine.<\/p>\n

Rock Stars in the winery<\/h2>\n

Everyone knows that Italian singer Al Bano has a wine-producing company in the region of Puglia. Well what about international artists?<\/p>\n

AC\/DC has 4 labels<\/h3>\n

AC\/DC<\/strong> own a line of wines produced in Australia<\/strong>, their native land.<\/p>\n

Their four labels are: a cabernet sauvignon \u201cHighway to Hell<\/strong>\u201d, a sauvignon blanc \u201cHells Bells<\/strong>\u201d, a shiraz \u201cBack in Black<\/strong>\u201d and a muscatel to party all night long named \u201cYou Shook Me All Night<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Wine signed Slayer<\/h3>\n

Slayer<\/strong>, on the other hand, produce a red table wine<\/strong> called “Reign in Blood”<\/strong>, which is the name of their third album.<\/p>\n

The Ciccone vineyards<\/h3>\n

Madonna<\/strong>, the American star of Italian origin, finances the wine-producing company owned by her father<\/a>, Silvio Ciccone<\/strong>, who dedicated an entire line of wines to her called Madonna Wines Limited Editions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The company produces\u00a0Pinot Grigio<\/strong>, Pinot noir, Gewurztraminer<\/strong>, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay<\/strong> using grapes produced locally in\u00a0Michigan.<\/p>\n

Bands that have invested in Italy<\/h3>\n

Two English groups, Simple Minds<\/strong> and Simply Red<\/strong>, have chosen to invest in Italy<\/a>, more precisely in Sicily<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Simple Minds are owners of various activities in the agricultural and hotel sector<\/strong> on the island. The band’s leader, Jim Kerr<\/strong> spends numerous months of the year in Taormina<\/strong>, not only to manage his companies but also to enjoy the climate, the food and southern Italy’s easygoing lifestyle.<\/p>\n

Mick Hucknall<\/strong>,\u00a0Simply Red’s frontman, owns a wine-making company at the foot of Mount Etna called “Il Cantante” (The Singer). His wines boast an excellent quality and are quite successful, without necessarily exploiting the artist’s fame.<\/p>\n

Wine-Guitar Made in Italy<\/h2>\n

You’ve probably never heard of Fabrizio Paoletti<\/a>, an artisan of Made in Italy<\/strong> excellence well known in the music world. In 2006, the Tuscan instrument maker<\/a>, in fact, had the ingenious idea of using old Chianti barrels<\/strong> as wood for his guitars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It was no mean feat. Initially he had to contact<\/strong> the famous artists<\/strong> in person to propose his works.<\/p>\n

The breakthrough came in 2009, thanks to a meeting with Maurizio Solieri<\/strong>, a former Vasco Rossi (Italian rock star) guitarist. Since then the trend has reversed and now well-known musicians are calling him and commissioning the guitars<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

To give you a few examples<\/a>, you can see the wine-guitars on stage alongside Ligabue<\/strong>, Slash<\/strong> (Guns ‘n Roses), Bruce Springsteen<\/strong>,\u00a0John Norum<\/strong> (Europe),\u00a0Phil X<\/strong> (Bon Jovi),\u00a0Brian May<\/strong> (Queen),\u00a0Keith Richards<\/strong> (Rolling Stones),…<\/p>\n

At this point we’re left with a doubt that perhaps Fabrizio will one day decide to unveil: who knows if Barolo barrels sound as good!<\/p>\n

The Wine project by Collisioni<\/h2>\n

The aim of the most famous agri-rock festival<\/strong> in Italy is to bring Rock Stars<\/strong> to an unusual setting<\/strong>: a small country village, that doesn’t have a huge stadium, where the concert takes place in the square.<\/p>\n

Even though for many the stars at Collisioni represent the main reason for the event, the organizers aim to get fans to discover the local food and wine heritage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The event will try to get visitors to experience the Langa territory in a different manner: through tastings<\/strong>, visits to the winery<\/strong>, tours<\/strong>, walk-around tastings<\/strong>, and lunches<\/strong>–dinners<\/strong> with the wine producers.<\/p>\n

In short, the intention of this great initiative is to bond the world of music even more so to the world of wine and local culinary traditions.<\/p>\n
