The journey can begin in Nucetto<\/strong>, a village that tells its story through very different places, all linked by a common thread: memory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The Historical Museum of Nucetto and the Upper Tanaro Valley<\/h3>\n\n

The Historical Museum of Nucetto and the Upper Tanaro Valley<\/strong>, founded in 2012 thanks to a collaboration with the “La Marina” Regiment Association<\/strong>, is a small treasure trove of memories. <\/p>\n\n

Its seven rooms<\/strong> lead you through legends<\/strong>, traditions<\/strong>, and military testimonies<\/strong>, in a journey that combines folk tales and local identity.<\/p>\n\n

The first room welcomes visitors with a phrase that seems to encapsulate the spirit of the place<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n

And it’s right from here that the mysterious Jumarre<\/strong> takes shape\u2014the creature of the Bagnasco caves<\/strong> that continues to fascinate the valley’s imagination.<\/p>\n\n

Alongside this tale lives the memory of the La Marina Regiment<\/strong>, the Piedmontese infantry<\/strong>, which has represented an important reference for local history since 1714. Even today, the historical group participates in re-enactments<\/strong> and ceremonies<\/strong>, keeping alive a heritage that belongs to the community. <\/p>\n\n

Among the most interesting surprises in the village is Stefano’s workshop<\/strong>, a baker who chose to start from tradition to innovate his craft.<\/p>\n\n

His oven is fueled by hazelnut shells from the Alta Langa<\/strong>, a natural<\/strong>, renewable<\/strong>, and zero-mile<\/strong> fuel, while the flours come from ancient grains<\/strong> like enkir<\/strong>, ground by Mulino Marino<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Thanks to sourdough starter<\/strong> and long proofing times<\/strong>, he kneads in the evening and bakes in the morning, resulting in bread that is digestible<\/strong>, fragrant<\/strong>, and deeply connected to its surroundings.<\/p>\n\n

Nucetto continues to tell its story outside the museums as well. The castle<\/strong> dominates the village and offers suggestive views of the valley, while the deconsecrated church<\/strong> now hosts events<\/a> and tastings<\/strong> in a cultural and hospitality space that adds another piece to the village’s character. <\/p>\n\n

The journey continues in the preserve cellar<\/strong>, a place that speaks of seasons, patient hands, and passed-down recipes, restoring the most concrete sense of home cooking and the relationship with time.<\/p>\n\n

The San Sebastiano Mill<\/h3>\n\n

Between the woods and the Tanaro<\/strong>, Bagnasco also guards one of the valley’s most significant places: the San Sebastiano Mill<\/strong>, among the last authentic examples of traditional milling in the Tanaro Valley<\/strong>. For generations, buckwheat<\/strong>, corn<\/strong>, dried chestnuts<\/strong>, and poor grains<\/strong> that fed local families have been ground here. <\/p>\n\n

To get there, you cross the historic Roman Aqueduct<\/strong> bridge, a very suggestive passage that seems to lead into another era. During tours, the mill also becomes a place to taste the Bagnasco white bean<\/strong>, white polenta<\/strong>, and other local products that tell the story of simple, mountain cuisine. <\/p>\n\n

Chestnut groves, mine, and outdoor activities<\/h3>\n\n

Around Bagnasco, a more dynamic dimension opens up, consisting of walks in the chestnut groves<\/strong>, excursions to the historic coal mine<\/strong>, and rock climbing<\/strong> for those who want to experience the mountains more actively. <\/p>\n\n

These are opportunities that add depth to the visit<\/strong> and show how the valley isn’t limited to its villages, but continues to be discovered through walking, elevation gain, and direct contact with the environment.<\/p>\n\n

Among the most heartfelt moments of the year is the Bagnasco Living Nativity<\/strong>, which brings the village streets to life on December 24<\/strong>, 26<\/strong>, and 28<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n
