Legend has it that Favorita was <strong>the favorite wine of the mistress of the King of Italy Victor Emmanuel II<\/strong> of Savoy, the famous Bela Rusin.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-landscape-lg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"875\" src=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/3-1400x875.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-277738\" srcset=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/3-1400x875.png 1400w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/3-900x563.png 900w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/3-550x344.png 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>It was born as a <strong>table variety<\/strong>, not intended for winemaking: characterized by <strong>large berries<\/strong> and <strong>abundant bunches<\/strong> compared to other Piedmontese grapes. In the past, vintners grew it in the sunniest hillside locations-the <strong>sur\u00ec-where<\/strong> the fruit ripened, taking on <strong>golden hues<\/strong> that increased its commercial appeal on market stalls. <\/p>\n\n<p>Now it is grown in the somewhat cooler places with a <strong>northwest exposure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the main difficulties in growing favorite? Has climate change affected the way you produce it? <\/h4>\n\n<p><span class=\"uppercase--md\">DAVIDE<\/span> \u2014 Fortunately, so far we have not noticed any major changes or problems. In the two major drought years, there has only been an <strong>increase in the alcohol content<\/strong> of the wine. <\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"uppercase--md\">Paolo<\/span> \u2014 It is a vine that is very susceptible to<strong> flavescence dor\u00e9e<\/strong>, a disease that strikes the vine, causing it to be so stressed that it dies within two to three years. For this reason, <strong>production is low<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you were to describe Favorita to someone who has never tasted it, what aromas, flavors and sensations should they expect?<\/h4>\n\n<p><span class=\"uppercase--md\">DAVIDE<\/span> \u2014 The Langhe DOC Favorita has <strong>good acidity<\/strong> and is very <strong>fruity<\/strong>, with very pleasant peach notes.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-landscape-lg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"875\" src=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Progetto-senza-titolo-28-1400x875.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-277742\" srcset=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Progetto-senza-titolo-28-1400x875.png 1400w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Progetto-senza-titolo-28-900x563.png 900w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Progetto-senza-titolo-28-550x344.png 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Its characteristics also vary depending on where it is grown: in the Roero, for example, it is more structured, while ours is <strong>lighter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"uppercase--md\">Paolo<\/span> \u2014 Compared to the others, it is favored for its characteristics as a <strong>simple, quiet<\/strong> wine at times not too demanding. A wine for <strong>daily consumption<\/strong> also because of its not too high alcohol contents.  <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What dishes go best with this wine? Personally, it really intrigues me with <strong>seafood<\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How is Favorita being received internationally? Are there any markets where it&#8217;s doing especially well? <\/h4>\n\n<p><span class=\"uppercase--md\">DAVIDE<\/span> \u2014 It is a wine that is <strong>liked abroad<\/strong>, because it is not the classic <a href=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/en\/wines\/docg-roero-arneis\/\">Arneis<\/a> or Gavi that everyone knows, <strong>it is less popular<\/strong>, but that is why it intrigues. Among our customers are Americans, Dutch, Danish, a really diverse market! <\/p>\n\n<p><span class=\"uppercase--md\">Paolo<\/span> \u2014 We have a more <strong> local<\/strong> than foreign <strong>market<\/strong>, Piedmont and Lombardy are our main customers, along with part of Liguria.
