{"id":11451,"date":"2015-08-05T09:52:04","date_gmt":"2015-08-05T07:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/langhe.net\/?p=11451"},"modified":"2017-09-25T16:25:02","modified_gmt":"2017-09-25T14:25:02","slug":"wine-tasting-langhe-doc-excelso-ca-neuva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/langhe.net\/en\/11451\/wine-tasting-langhe-doc-excelso-ca-neuva\/","title":{"rendered":"The first vintage of the Langhe Doc Excelso of Ca\u2019 Neuva"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The<strong>\u00a0Abbona family<\/strong>,\u00a0owners of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/business\/ca-neuva-eng\/?lang=en\">Cantina C\u00e0 Neuva di Dogliani<\/a> winery, is celebrating its <strong>90th anniversary<\/strong> by presenting a new exuberant wine: the <strong>Langhe Doc Excelso<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A red wine of great structure with soft and intense tannins, <strong>assembled using<\/strong> three vine varieties (<strong>Barbera, Nebbiolo and Cabernet<\/strong>) of which we will never know the exact proportions;<strong> this is Sergio\u2019s secret recipe<\/strong> and he guards it jealously.<\/p>\n<p>Curious name, <strong>Excelso<\/strong>, which has a double meaning: <strong>a tribute to Celso<\/strong>, the company&#8217;s founder, and a reference to its <strong>excellence<\/strong>, from the Latin word\u00a0<em>excelsus<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3>Production method<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Winemaking method<\/strong>: fermentation with medium-long maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks. Followed by a six month period of refinement in wood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Temperature<\/strong>:\u00a0between 25\u00b0 and 28\u00b0 degrees.<\/p>\n<h3>Tasting the wine<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-11192\" src=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/excelso-435x1030.jpg\" alt=\"excelso\" width=\"300\" height=\"711\" srcset=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/excelso-435x1030.jpg 435w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/excelso-106x250.jpg 106w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/excelso-127x300.jpg 127w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/excelso-422x999.jpg 422w, https:\/\/langhe.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/excelso.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>ruby red<\/strong> color of this wine arouses freshness which in fact can be found both in its fragrance and in the mouth thanks to the percentage of Barbera.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the nose perceives <strong>red fruit notes<\/strong>, <strong>spices and jams<\/strong> as a result of the splendid combination of the three grape varieties: Barbera, Nebbiolo and Cabernet.\u00a0This combination of grapes emanates sensations of fresh, ripe fruit with pleasant persistence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grapes<\/strong>: Barbera-Nebbiolo-Cabernet<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alcohol content<\/strong>: 14,5%<\/p>\n<p><strong>Color<\/strong>: light ruby red<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bouquet<\/strong>: very ripe red fruit, slightly spicy and intense aromas<\/p>\n<p><strong>Taste<\/strong>: when tasting it you immediately get a sensation of freshness given by the Barbera, the slightly spicy Nebbiolo and the Cabernet\u2019s vegetable flavor<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pairing<\/strong>: goes well with vegetable dishes and selections of cold cuts and medium-aged <a href=\"https:\/\/langhe.net\/food\/cheeses\/?lang=en\">cheeses<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can find the <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.langhe.net\/en\/product\/langhe-rosso-excelso-ca-neuva\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Langhe Doc Excelso di C\u00e0 Neuva<\/a>\u00a0on <strong>ShopLanghe<\/strong>, sold directly by the producer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Abbona family,\u00a0owners of the\u00a0Cantina C\u00e0 Neuva di Dogliani winery, is celebrating its 90th anniversary by presenting a new exuberant wine: the Langhe Doc Excelso.
