ACCOMPANY THE TRIFULAU (EXPERT TRUFFLE HUNTER) AND HIS DOG<\/strong> FOR A WALK AMONGST THE NATURAL TRUFFLES GROUNDS IN LANGA AND ROERO.<\/p>\n Among the beautiful UNESCO Hills, you\u2019ll discover the truffle\u2019s characteristics, history and the techniques on how to search for it (and find it)<\/p>\n And in the end, you can feel that inebriating feeling of victory, when the dog finally unearths the mysterious mushroom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The hunt takes place during the day, in collaboration with the Associazione Trifulau Colline di Langa<\/strong> (Langa Hills Trifulau Association), between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m..<\/p>\n The real protagonist of the excursion is the dog<\/strong>, nicknamed Tabui<\/strong> in jargon, which sets the group\u2019s pace, moving through the trees and sniffing<\/strong> at the base of the trunks.<\/p>\n After walking through the woods, often moving “back and forth”, the tabui is suddenly stricken<\/strong> by the scent at a precise point and starts to turn the earth over lightly<\/strong> to attract the trifualu\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n The trifulau then comes along with his \u2018sapin\u2019 (small hoe)<\/strong> and delicately opens the hole<\/strong> where the dog began digging, he then pulls out the truffle with his hands causing an explosion of fragrance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The truffe hunt is simulated, in the sense that the truffes are previously buried by the trifulau so as to give a demonstration of their work and that of the tabui (the truffle dog).<\/p>\n Since the hunt takes place in a natural truffle setting, we may also found truffles that haven\u2019t been buried artificially, but that naturally grown on site.<\/p>\n WARNING<\/strong>: never trust those who say they will take you on a \u201creal\u201d, and not simulated, truffle hunt.<\/p>\n All paths and the search sites are jealously guarded by each trifulau, and is it highly unlikely they will let anyone else know their secret.<\/p>\n The search takes place in one of the following places:<\/p>\n Barolo\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Natural Tartufaia Basic price<\/strong>: 122,00\u20ac for 2 people + 12,00 \u20ac per additional person.
