The Relais San Maurizio was created from the renovation of an old Renaissance monastery, located on top of a ridge, northwest of Santo Stefano Belbo.
For over ten years now its 36 rooms and suites, deriving from monastic cells, represent a summary of the values of high-level hospitality: comfort, art, culture and technology.
The philosophy of Relais is to unite modernity and tradition, on a journey to rediscover one’s well-being and the art of “fine living”.
Ideal for those looking for a refined stay, and want to keep in touch with nature.
Relais’ history begins in 1619, when a group of Cistercian monks, traveling along the Via del Sale, came across the ruins of an old chapel.
They decided to build a new place of prayer and work on these foundations.
Over time the work carried out by these men made the hill particularly fertile for various types of cultivation: grapevines and cereals, and herbs and spices.
In 1862 the monastery and its lands were acquired by the Marquis of Incisa family and the monastic austerity was shelved to make way for grotesque decorations, trompe l’oeil, fabrics and fireplaces.
In 2002, after 4 years of attentive renovation work, the Relais came to life: an adventure which began 4 centuries ago and still continues to this day.
When staying at the Relais, in addition to the 5-star hospitality, you can take advantage of various services, including:
Located on a natural terrace at 400 m above sea level, the swimming pool offers a 360° panorama of the Langhe hills.
Perfect for escaping during the summer from the ‘scorching’ cities.
Spa & Gym
A SPA is made available by the Relais which offers numerous wellness treatments such as Sauna, Grotta del Sale and Wine Therapy (discover more on Relais’ SPA here).
Inside the Relais you’ll find the Truffle Bistrot, a restaurant that offers products grown in the Relais-owned gardens; products prepared so as to respect the natural flavors of the raw materials.
